The University of North Florida's College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) upholds a strong commitment to serve the needs of the exceptional student, disability services and deaf communities through various partnerships. We are dedicated to preparing quality educators and educational leaders for our community.• Exceptional student education programs prepare individuals to be teachers and disability service providers • Deaf education programs prepare teachers for deaf and hard-of-hearing students • ASL/English interpreting prepares interpreters for a variety of settings, including education, medical and legal • ASL courses provide opportunities to learn ASL as a second or foreign language We are also dedicated to providing services to UNF students with disabilities through three distinct programs, including: • On Campus Transition (OCT) Program, a college experience for young adults with intellectual disabilities or differences • Transition to Healthiness, Resourcefulness, Independence, Vocation and Education (THRIVE) Program, support to matriculating students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) • Student Accessibility Services (SAS), promotes access to coursework for matriculating students with disabilities
With your support, UNF can continue to develop and support programming including “Reading Buddies” which pairs Deaf children with pre-service deaf education teachers, and our ASL Lab; where native speakers of ASL help students develop their second language skills.
