UNF Chamber Singers Abroad
The Chamber Singers are gearing up for a transformational learning experience set for May 2022 to Italy and Slovenia. As it has been four years since their last tour, the graduating students are especially eager for this opportunity - and of course it is splendid that our voice majors will hear the Italian language first-hand, and see the very places where so much music was created and first performed.
Slovenia, a less-known destination to Americans, is a perfect example of a cultural location that encompasses the bulk of 20th century history and serves as crossroads of Slavic, Germanic and Romantic languages. Visiting Slovenia exposes students to rich, old-world culture alongside a palpable national pride in these proud citizens of the small nation, recognized as an independent state in 1992. Sharing an international perspective with local students in each location will help open our students' minds to broader possibilities that exist for their futures.
Tour Highlights
Highlights of the 11-day performance tour include sightseeing, informal exchanges with local choirs and formal concerts in Rome, Montepulciano, Bologna and Ljubljana. With your gift of any size today, you are providing new opportunities to help our Ospreys soar. The total cost of the tour is $4,500 per person, and there will be 30 students traveling. In an ideal world, each member would travel with us, regardless of their personal financial situation.
About Us
Dr. Cara Tasher, director of choral studies, has been nurturing cultural understanding through language and travel with our students since 2006. UNF students singing in the choral ensembles have had a multitude of cultural opportunities both on-campus and abroad, many of which serve as recruitment to choose UNF as a collegiate destination.
We are honored to serve as ambassadors through our performances and exchanges. You have the power to make a difference through your support. Thank you for your generous contribution and SWOOP!
